The Midi V
When you are proposing a full scale sculpture a smaller version called a maquette is made to make sure it all works before you scale it up. We have made various plaster, metal and virtual models, but it was time to step up. After many false starts we realized that our unique shape could not be fabricated in any way, it needed to be cast. Thanks to the generosity of one of our champions, the production of a stainless steel maquette was commissioned by Goodwin Steel Castings in Stoke-on-Trent. Founded in 1883 this proud British firm cast large industrial pieces to an incredible standard. From our CAD drawings a beautiful set of patterns was made.
